High Flex Life USB Cables


 Introduction

Standard USB cables are not designed to sustain frequent motions. When subjected to dynamic bending, regular USB cables often encounter wire breaks and attenuated signal transfer performance. Newnex invented the High Flex Life USB cables that are capable of sustaining millions of flex cycles in movements while maintaining high performance of data transfer and power delivery.

Additionally, combining with the advanced FireNEX™ repeater technology, the Newnex high flex life USB active cables are capable of reaching longer distance beyond the normal lengths. They are widely used for applications such as industrial automation, medical imaging robotic arms and more.

There are two main styles of dynamic bending when industry professionals install cables: drag chain and tick-tock.


Drag chain: also referred to as cable chain, cable carrier, cable track and energy chain, is a flexible hollow structure used to guide and support cables in motion.

Travel distance and bending radius are the two dominant factors of cable’s bending life when subjected into drag chain. Longer travel distance and smaller bending radius will result shorter bending life cycles.

Tick-tock: fixed one point of the cable and move of the other end. Often see this style of bending on a robotic arm. Bending radius is the determined factor of cables’ bending life. The bending life cycle become shorter when bending radius is set smaller.
