When would I need a 1394 Repeater?

IEEE1394 cables can only maintain signal integrity for up to a certain length. IEEE1394 standards specify this length should be no more than 4.5 meters (15 ft). In order to extend this signal for longer distances, you can use an IEEE1394 repeater pair. IEEE1394 repeaters utilize various media to extend and maintain the IEEE1394 signal over long distances. The signal can be repeated over CAT5, COAX, or Optical Fiber depending on the desired distance. With Newnex IEEE1394 repeaters, the signal can be maintained up to thousands of meters depending on the type of media.
